1. Enthiran – This Science-Fiction Thriller Starring Superstar Rajinikanth and Beauty Queen Aishwarya Rai was Directed by the Ace Director Shankar. This Movie is termed as the landmark film in Indian Film History. This was initially planned in the year 2001 for Kamal Hassan and Preity Zinta but came into force only in 2008. EROS International pestered this project but later stepped out of this movie due to the economical crisis in 2008, Later Sun Pictures took upon this project. Produced at a Lavish Budget of 150 cr, it raised the eye brows of many film pundits and critics. This film went on to become a Major Success and was declared a Blockbuster at the Box office. It Grossed around 412cr Worldwide and the theatre Share was estimated to be 167cr.As Tamil Films Have major market in all the States of South India, it was simultaneously dubbed into Telugu and Hindi for other audience. 2.Vishwaroopam – This Spy-Action Thriller Stars Kamal Hassan in the Lead role which was also written, Directed and produced by the senior actor.It Was said that Kamal Hassan has put all his earnings, properties etc in this film. There was a delayed release for this film in Tamil Nadu as the Muslim Communities raised anguish over the content in the film, subsequently Tamil Nadu Govt stopped the producers from releasing this film. This led to the emotional breakdown of Kamal Hassan.However the film registered a grand success at the boxoffice by grossing 227crs Worldwide made at a budget of 95crs and the Theatre Share was estimated to be around 86cr. In Tamil Nadu it Grossed 137cr, 20cr each in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala-Karnataka respectively, 25cr in North India.Film Pundits say that due to the delay the movie has lost a revenue of 10crs-15crs.

3.Thuppakki – This Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal Starrer was directed by A.R.Murugadoss and distributed by Gemini Film Circuit.The story revolves around an Indian army intelligence officer from a Mumbai-based Tamil family on a mission to track down and destroy a terrorist group and deactivate the sleeper cells under its command.Its release coincided with the festive season of Diwali. The Film got major positive reviews. Produced at a Moderate Budget of 65cr, the film garnered 195crs gross Worldwide, resulting in a theatre share of 91cr. The breakdown of this blockbuster in India is as follows, Tamil Nadu- 135cr A.P- 25cr, Kerala & Karnataka – 18cr.Thuppakki is being remade in Bollywood as Holiday starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.

4. Sivaji – Sivaji is a Action- Thriller movie based on Corruption in the Indian Govt starring Rajnikanth and Shriya Saran in The lead Roles.This Movie is directed by the intelligent director Shankar.It was produced by the Very old AVM Productions on a budget of 60cr.Sivaji grossed 175cr Worldwide and it completed a175 days run in major theatres in Tamil Nadu resulting in a theatre Share of 72.5cr. In Tamil Nadu Alone it Grossed around 110cr, A.P- 25cr, Kerala and Karnataka – 15crs

5.Singam2 – Singam2 is a Action masala film starring Surya, Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani in lead roles. This is a sequel of the 2010 film Singam. Surya plays a tough cop in this movie.Though the film received mixed reviews, it went on to become the highest grossing film in Surya’s career.Directed by Hari, Prince Pictures produced this film at a budget of 60cr.Singam2 grossed 171cr worldwide deduced profits for the producer resulting in a theatre share of 78.5cr.In Tamil Nadu its Collections were around 110 cr, A.P – 29crs, Kerala & Karnataka – 16cr. Singam2 was declared a blockbuster at the box-office.

6.Dasavataram- Dasavataram is a Science-Fiction-Disaster film directed by K.S.Ravikumar produced by Ascar Films at a budget of 60cr. It stars Kamal Hassan, Asin and Mallika Sherawat in lead roles. As the title says Dasavataram(10 Avatars), Kamal Hassan justifies the title doing all the 10 roles himself, a major feet in Indian Film History.This movie grossed 151cr Worldwide and a theatre share of 65cr.Dasavataram was declared a superhit at the boxoffice. It grossed 110cr in Tamil Nadu and 10cr each in the regions of A.P and Kerala-Karnataka.

7.Arrambham- This is a Action-Thriller directed by Vishnuvardhan and stars Ajith Kumar, Arya, Nayanatara and Tapsee Pannu in lead roles.Rana Daggubati appears in a guest role.Music for this film was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Arrambham came after the average success of Billa-2 for Ajith Kumar.This film received positive reviews all over and has a cult following. Made at a budget of 65cr it garnered 150cr gross worldwide resulting in a theater share of 71cr.The Tamil Nadu figures are around 108cr while its A.P collections remain 1t 10cr and Kerala-Karnataka collections are 16cr.Arrambham is the highest grossing film in Ajith’s career.

8.Nanban- Nanban is the official remake of the Bollywood blockbuster 3-Idiots which itself is adapted from the novel ‘Five Point Someone’ written by Chetan Bhagat.It is also the only remake to feature in this list and is also the only remake ever directed by Shankar.It stars Vijay, Jiva, Srikanth and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles.It is produced by Gemini Film Circuit at a moderate budget of 55cr.The film opened with positive reviews while Telugu version of this film faced the axe of the critics. It grossed 133cr worldwide and a theater share of 60cr.The Indian figures of this movie are as follows, Tamil Nadu – 81cr, A.P – 23cr and Kerala-Karnataka – 18cr This was declared SuperHit at the Box-office.

9.Jilla- Jilla is a Action-Drama film starring Vijay, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles.This Movie was directed by R.T.Neason.This film was produced by Super Good Films at a budget of 45cr.The film initially received somewhat mixed reviews but somehow breaked into the top-10. This shows the stamina of vijay in the masses. Jilla garnered a total gross of 123cr. The Tamil Nadu figures of this film stand at 90cr while the Kerala-Karnataka region figures estimate about 20cr. There have been speculations that the film will be remade into Telugu rather than dubbing it which most Tamil producers do to gain profits.

10.7Aum Arivu- 7Aum Arivu(7th Sense in Telugu) is a Science-Fiction Thriller Written and directed by A.R.Murugadoss starring Surya and Shruti Hassan in lead roles. Surya portrays two different roles in this movie. 7Aum Arivu is produced by Red Giant Movies at a budget of60cr and its gross collections worldwide are 122cr and theater share is about 47cr.This film survived from a major loss, thanks to Surya’s craze in Andhra Pradesh where the film collected one-third of its total gross i.e 40cr. The collections in Tamil Nadu stand at 60cr and the film collected 12cr in the Kerala-Karnataka region.
